What's it all about?

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2009 McDonald's LPGA Championship Presented by Coca-Cola. The success of our event is due in part to the outstanding dedication and support provided by over 1300 volunteers. For the past twenty-seven years, the tournament has raised $46 million for Ronald McDonald House Charities and other children's charities. We recognize this outstanding achievement is not possible without the help of each and every volunteer - your contribution of time and effort are of immeasurable value. Please join us for a volunteer experience that promises to be rewarding and truly unforgettable!

Volunteer Perks!
- A weeklong volunteer credential which allows you access to the event for the entire week

Value of your volunteer experience...priceless!
There really are some things that money can't buy.

Volunteer Jobs
Match your personal skills and interests with our needs. We have a variety of jobs - some inside, some outside (but "inside the ropes"!); a few in front of computers, others in front of customers; jobs that require you to sit, assignments that never stop moving! Check out the diverse job postings now. (link to job descriptions!) We ask that each volunteer sign up for a minimum of three shifts, including at least one shift during the week. Each shift is approximately 4-6 hours. Shift starting times vary depending on the committee.

Volunteer Uniforms
Most committees require the purchase of a uniform. The uniform includes a shirt and hat and is sent via UPS straight to your front door! The cost of the uniform ranges from $46.50 - $55.50 depending on your headwear selection. All volunteers are asked to provide their own khaki (tan) slacks or shorts (no jeans, denim, cutoffs or "short" shorts please). There are a few committees (so noted on the committee description list) that do not require a uniform - these volunteers are provided t-shirts at no cost.

Friendship, Camaraderie, Purpose
Our volunteers are like family. This year will mark Norm Lipton's 28th year as a volunteer! Norm takes a week off from his real job, shacks up in a local hotel (he lives over 70 miles away) and puts in countless hours during the week. Norm is chairman of the Grounds Marshal committee. Jane Furphy and a friend (brand new volunteers this year) are coming all the way from Florida! A golf enthusiast for many, many years, Jane retired and finally has time to volunteer. She's looking forward to being a Greens Reporter. Jim Welch jumped at the chance to volunteer when the event moved near his home in Maryland four years ago. He's warming up his voice already; you'll find Jim on the 1st tee announcing the players as they begin their rounds. Ellie Steinhart didn't want the fun to end last year, so she invited her tournament friends over in November for drinks and dinner. Another gathering is in the works.

So whether you're a new volunteer, an experienced veteran or anything in between, thank you for your tremendous support!  You help make a tough road for kids a little easier.

It was a pleasure to compete in this year’s McDonald’s LPGA Championship.  Many thanks to your team, the course staff, and the volunteers for making this tournament such a wonderful event.” – Karrie Webb
